Next month, precisely on the 9th of March 2016, a spectacular phenomenon of total solar eclipse will pass across Bangka and Belitung. The pinnacle of the total eclipse will last for 2 minutes and 10 seconds, which will be happening between 06.20 am to 07.24 am local time (GMT+7).
The local government of Bangka Belitung has anticipated this phenomenon by preparing 100 observation points. Most of them are located at the East Coast of Bangka Island, stretch along Bangka Tengah district. In addition, the local government is organising several events and competitions to entertain all visitors as well as local people.
If you don’t want to miss this very rare natural phenomenon on Bangka Belitung Islands, please make sure to book your accommodation in advance. It would be recommended to allocate at least 3 days of visit to Bangka, from 8th to 10th of March. Day 1 is for arrival and to check the observation location. Day 2 is to watch the total solar eclipse and to explore places of interest nearby such as the Kaolin Lake. Day 3 is departure.
